PROSOL drives the circular economy in the company thanks to NextGenerationEU
The project “Recovery and Reuse of Aromas to reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials in the production of Agglomerated Soluble Coffee” is a beneficiary of the 2024 call for grants to promote the circular economy in companies, from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
PROSOL aims to ensure that the recovery and reuse of aromas is carried out under controlled conditions, in order to reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials in the production of agglomerated soluble coffee while optimising the sensory quality of the final product.
Technologies and equipment will be implemented to guarantee the preservation and reincorporation of aromas into the soluble coffee, minimising waste generation and promoting its reuse, in line with the principles of sustainability and the circular economy.
Implementing these technologies will make it possible to:
- Recover the volatile aromas lost during the manufacture of soluble coffee and reincorporate them into the final product to improve its organoleptic characteristics.
- Optimise green coffee consumption by incorporating micronised coffee, reducing dependence on virgin raw materials and promoting sustainability.
- Reduce the generation of spent coffee grounds waste, lowering its environmental impact.
- Increase the intensity and sensory quality of the soluble coffee by integrating micronised coffee without subjecting it to traditional extraction and concentration processes.
